SUMMARY:Campaign Strategies and Political Dynamics in the US - An Analysis by New York Times journalist Jazmine Ulloa
DESCRIPTION:The 60th presidential election in the United States will take place on November 5\, 2024. It is part of a series of different elections in which\, besides the presidential election\, all members of the House of Representatives\, about a third of the Senate seats\, several governors and state legislatures are elected\, and numerous local elections are held as well. Elections in the USA are characterized in particular by a wide variety of campaign strategies and campaigns\, mostly aimed at competitors. In conversation with journalist and moderator David Patrician\, US journalist Jazmine Ulloa (New York Times) will talk about campaign strategies and political dynamics. \nThe event is part of the U.S. Election Speaker Series\, which is organized in cooperation with the Aspen Institute Germany\, the U.S. Embassy Berlin and the Association of German-American Centers (AGAC)\, of which the Amerikazentrum Hamburg is a founding member. The event on September 16\, 2024\, in Hamburg is a cooperation of the Amerikazentrum Hamburg\, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom and People on the Hill\, with the kind support of the U.S. Consulate General Hamburg. \nThis event is free of charge and will be held in English. \nRegister here for this event. \n  \nBiographies \nJazmine Ulloa covers national politics and the 2024 presidential election for The New York Times. She came to the paper from The Boston Globe\, where she covered Congress and the 2020 presidential campaign from Washington. A native of El Paso\, Texas\, she previously worked for newspapers in Brownsville\, San Antonio and Austin before joining The Los Angeles Times in its Sacramento bureau. In 2018\, she traveled California\, highlighting close midterm races\, and wrote about the state’s fights with the Trump administration over immigration and the border wall. \nDavid Patrician is an American moderator/journalist currently based in Hamburg\, Germany. He came to Germany on a Fulbright Journalism Scholarship and has reported for a variety of media outlets (i.e. Voice of America\, Deutsche Welle\, N-tv\, RTL Nord and the Hamburger Abendblatt). In addition\, he has moderated numerous international events and conferences (i.e. the TEDxFulbright in Frankfurt\, the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue\, Hamburg’s 2023 AI.Summit).
