Reading with Jan Philipp Burgard<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

America is a powder keg, with societal upheavals that are explosive. The unrest following George Floyd’s death and the dramatic scenes surrounding the Capitol insurrection have shown this. Is America still the “land of unlimited possibilities”? Has it ever been? Will the new President Joe Biden succeed in reconciling the country, or will it sink into a vortex of fear, violence, and destruction? Jan Philipp Burgard explores the visible fractures in America and paints a vivid picture of a country in a state of emergency through compelling reports.<\/p>\n

On October 15, 2021, we welcomed former ARD USA correspondent Jan Philipp Burgard<\/strong> back to an in-person event to present his new book Mensch, Amerika!<\/em>. The discussion and reading, held at the Patriotische Gesellschaft von 1756, was moderated by David Patrician<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The audience eagerly embraced the opportunity for an in-person event, actively participating and asking exceptionally diverse and interesting questions. It was a thoroughly successful evening for all involved, with many attendees leaving with a new book and a personal inscription.<\/p>\n

The bookstore HafenFuchs <\/a>from HafenCity managed the book table.<\/p>\n<\/div>
