The Amerikazentrum Hamburg is joining the event series “Hamburg liest verbrannte Bücher”. Kicking off our events is a discussion of Ernest Hemingway on May 23 at 7 p.m.
Ernest Hemingway’s 1929 classic “A Farewell to Arms” (published in German in 1930 as “In Another Country”) is based on his experiences as a volunteer on the Italian front in World War I. The book was banned in Germany in 1919. The anti-war novel was burned and banned in Germany in 1933. The Amerikazentrum invites you to a conversation about Hemingway’s work and its significance with Dr. Sharon Hamilton and Doug Cowie. This event will be held in English.
